Application Process
How to Apply:
You can request an application to be mailed to you by filling out and mailing the Application Request Form along with the $50 application fee. You can also pick one up at the JATC office, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Fridays 7:30 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm. The JATC accepts cash, checks, credit cards or money orders.
We offer three different programs. Each program is independent from each other.
4-year program (8,000 on-the-job hours)
$50.00 Application Fee
3-year program (4,800 on-the-job hours)
$50.00 Application Fee
2-year program (4,000 on-the-job hours)
No Application Fee
Step 1: Do You Meet the Requirements?
- Applicants must be 18 years of age.
- Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- High school graduate from a school accredited by a State Education Agency
- GED
- High School Equivalency
- Associate degree or higher from a school accredited by a State Education Agency
- Complete one of the following math requirements:
- One year of high school algebra with a “C” or better average
- One quarter of post-high school algebra with a passing grade
- ETA Tech Math course with a minimum score of 75% (course available at SkillsPrep)
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Have access to the internet with a computer, laptop, or tablet.
- Complete one of the following algebra requirements:
- One year of high school algebra with a passing grade
- One quarter of post-high school algebra with a passing grade
- ETA Tech Math course with a minimum score of 75%
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Complete one of the following math requirements:
- One year of General Math with a passing grade
- NJATC math course with a minimum score of 75%
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
Step 2: Take the Aptitude Test
Once you have completed the application and provided “official transcript(s)” you will be scheduled for our aptitude test. Official transcript means that the transcript is in a sealed envelope from the school(s).
Inside & Low Voltage applicants must receive a qualifying score on the Aptitude Test (Algebra & Reading Comprehension).
Aptitude test is NOT REQUIRED for the Residential Program.
Step 3: Interview
Interviews will be scheduled for those who have successfully met all the requirements. Interviews are held on a year round basis.
